Simple layer question

Hello

I have Flash MX, but I am a complete beginner.

I have a Flash site to work on/try to customise and though it looks fairly comprehensive and intricate (sound files, etc), when I open the file I can only see 4 layers (3,4, 10, or something like that).

Are layers built in numerical order and, if so, why can't I see them all?

Yes, when you start adding them, their default names should be in numerical order, but in the creative process, they can be renamed or deleted, and new ones created... That may be why you're only seeing those particular layers, that obviously haven't been renamed...
