I would like the ability to fax from Outlook. I realize there are many products out there, but most are a complete solution. Has anyone had experience with something simple, one that just allows end-users to fax? I don't need any receiving capabilities, only sending.

Thanks for any info.

It would help if you added the Windows Version and Outlook version you are using.
Besides, if you do not want a complete solution, this question would fit more into the Office forum as Exchange has nothing to do with it then.

PS: If you are using XP, add the Faxservices from the add/Remove programs.

Right you are. :)

Most clients have Windows XP, a few are still runing Windows 2k. Outlook versions are all currently 2k. None of the PC's have a modem, I would like to use the modem on the Exchange server to send faxes.

GFI's product, FAX Maker, does everything. I would like a product that I can just send faxes with. If there is such a creature, I would think it would be alot less expensive.

I suppose I could use some sort of modem sharing program, but I would prefer something that worked through exchange.

Oh well, if GFI is too expensive, and it is not cheap indeed, AND you want an integrated Exchange solution, you will have to put down the cash, sorry.

Standalone Faxsolutions are cheaper, but you do need to install client software then.

I agree entirely with marcs41, a server based fax system is an expensive beast, but look at the increase in productivity from being able to fax from the desk top. Another point, is that have a client based system you need an analogue line (which sits idle 99.9% of the time) for each user. this will tie up your PBX resource, your cabling infrastructure and support time too.

My personal preference would be to look at Rightfax ( which has a really good exchange integration (inbound and outbound)
