I have a client that is completely computer illiterate, and she wants to be able to update and maintain her website herself. The site is already designed and has been online for several months, and going back and building a CMS is out of the question.

I need to find a very simple, very basic authoring tool that she can use to make changes to her site and publish them. All she wants to do is change pictures and edit text. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hope This Helps!

Contribute was actually what I had in mind, but as I read through the features/capabilities on it this morning, it seemed that it may be a little overkill for what I need. It seems to have many features and I was afraid it may be too cumbersome or intimidating for someone who doesn't know squat about how to use a computer.

Do you think it would be easy for my client to make and publish text and picture changes using Contribute without having all of the other stuff get in the way?

I have actually trained office personel how to use it and it couldn't be easier. I think it is the best solution for the cost and you can force some integrity (permissions) on the content that can or shouldn't be changed.

My choice for sure.

Great! Thanks, I'll go ahead and look into using it then.

If the website pages are stored in a database, you could look into a free online HTML editor like TinyMCE or FCKEditor. I use TinyMCE for most of my websites. However, I belive the site needs to be stored in a database... I've never set it up any other way, so I could be wrong.
