I finally got my lab up for Simphony, however when I go to run EMC, I get the following error when I try to log in.

I am using the default micros, micros username and password combo. I've tried connecting via localhost, server IP and server name. I cannot figure out the issue, the errors I have found online don't really help to figure out what the issue is.

Here's what the EMC.log file reads.
Failure to connect to host: localhost
SendSyncRequest returned with error code: ERC_COMM_ERROR
at EMC.Data.WebService.EMCClient.Execute(Int32 timeOutSec)
at EMC.Data.WebService.EMCClient.IsMultiTenantNotAuthenticated()
at EMC.Framework.Login.ServerLogger.AttemptServerConnection(BooleanisDisplayError)

Are you running your system on the default port 8080 or have you specified a different port number? You can specify the port number in the EMC by saying localhost:8080 or whatever the port number is.

Are you running the EMC on the application server?

Yes, on both.

As for EMC I am starting it via the desktop icon that was created after the install.

As for MyMicros, I cannot login either. I've tried the default company names and have also looked at the DB and found what I think is the name and cannot login via either. I installed the Sample DB and not the blank one.

Open IIS Manager

Select Simphony2 under Sites.
1. Check that the site is started. You should have a Restart, Start, Stop options on the right.
2. While "Simphony2" is selected choose "Bindings" on the right. The binding type should be http, port should be 8080 and IP Address should be *
3. Under "Simphony2" choose "EGateway" and "Advanced Settings". Check that the "Physical Path" settings is pointing to the correct directory. The directory is the one containing the EGateway.asmx

That is all correct, when I first went into binding the IP wasn't *, so I looked at it and selected all unassigned and saved, the * showed up and the path is correct for the Egateway.

and after you made that change it still didnt work?

In IIS Manager expand Sites -> Simphony2 -> EGateway. Right click on EGateway and select "Switch to Content View".
On the right you will see the file Egateway.asmx. Right click on this file and select browse.
Does the page load. It should just be a website with two links.

Nope, shows Web page cannot be displayed.
I've tried with localhost, IP address and also name of the server, and nothing works.

The install was done with all default options, same with the IIS installation.

FYI
The MyMicros page loads ( I just can't log in there either.
I also put a simple hello.html file and tried to view it and I get the same response. Which is the standard 500 error.

Yes, I have done an iisreset with pretty much any changes.

Nothing in the logs, at least not that would point to this.

One thing I did do just now, was changed the ApplicationPools from .NET Framework v2.0.50727 to v4.0.30319. After that and resetting IIS, I went back to the EGateway.asmx file and browsed it and it came back with 2 links to check items. However, I tried it again, nothing happens, 500 error again.

This error mostly occurs when World Wide Web Publishing service in the Services.msc is not working. once started the error should go away.

Search and start the World Wide Web Publishing service in the Services.msc and if World Wide Web Publishing Service not starting for error ; "Windows could not start the World Wide Web Publishing Service
service on Local Computer.
Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start. "

Fair enough, the dependency in question was the Windows Process Activation Service. When they attempted to start that, this happened;

“Windows could not start the Windows Process Activation Service – Error 6801: Transaction support within the specified resource manager is not started or was shut down due to an error” error message when you try to start the WAS (Windows Process Activation Service) service.

This issue may occur if the file system transaction log is corrupted somehow. In this case run the following command in the command prompt:

run--> cmd--> fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\

PS: This assumes that the system drive is C:

Reboot is required after running the command.

Thanks for the input. I've tried it an I still get the original error.
