Simian Evolution with gmail

Hello:
I have Simian Evolution V1.4 on RedHat 9 machine. Try to configure gmail into it. I am getting error:
"MAIL FROM response error: Authentication Required"
when sending email via smtp.gmail.com.
The configuration of Sending Mail as:
Server Type: SMTP
Host: smtp.gmail.com:587
Use secure connection (SSL) Always
Server requires authentication is checked.
User name: my gmail.com account id.
Remenber this password is checked.
