Can't find infomation on some advertised ablilities of the new 6.0 s/w. Silent monitoring done through Hunt Groups via a supervisor with a password and the opening up of the two Companion only fiber ports. Is this done with key codes? There doesn't seem to be information on the documentation CD. Any infomation would be helpful. I will explore with great hope concerning centalized VM & AA later..... :)

Thanks. darnold@americaii.com

In the 6.o Installer guide look at page 398.(Programming,system programming, hunt groups, silent observe)
and in the 6.0 coordinator guide look in page 169.
The feature is Feat * 5 5 0 password SILENT

I re-read your first question and could only find references that indicate that "..it is not possible to monitor a hunt group call for a portable and ISDN set..."

Nothing I spotted about the fiber ports though. sorry for the earlier bad info. JerryReeve

I also didn't phrase the question well. I meant for the Silent monitoring, actually how do you do it. I have some documentation on it. For my system the F*550 seems to be invalid. I can't seem to make a supervisor and see no place in capababilities to do so. Under features I do not have a SM= Y, N choice. Do you turn this feature on with a key code, or is this going to be a WI# solution.

Documentation that I have read is as follows.
Silent Monitor for Hunt groups Configuration

• Description
- This feature enables the Silent Monitoring capability for a predefined number of sets
(called supervisors) defined by the Administrator.
- Silent Monitoring feature allows a supervisor to monitor Hunt Group members without their
knowledge silently or by providing a tone depending on the system programming.
• Feature Activation
- This feature can be invoked by F*550 and entering the Silent Monitoring Password.
- To successfully invoke the feature the following conditions should be satisfied.
1.Only sets which have 2 line LCD display can invoke the feature(for
ex:M7310,M7324,T7316 ..).
2.Supervisor capability should be set to yes under capabilities for that set.
3.If the handset is on-hook then hands free should be Auto/Std.
4.Required to enter a valid password.

• End user view
- Once the feature is activated, it will ask for the DN of HG member to be monitored.
- If the DN entered is a hunt group member and is on an active hunt group call, it starts
monitoring immediately in listen only (muted) mode.
- If the DN to be monitored is not on HG call or Idle it will display “<HGmember DN>:Idle”.
- Once the HG member is active with the HG call supervisor starts monitoring in listen only
mode.
- By using soft keys supervisor can un mute or can stop current monitoring session and
enter another HG member DN to be monitored or the feature can be terminated.
- During silent monitoring supervisor goes in to conference with the HG member without
providing any tone or any other sort of indication.
- During non silent monitoring supervisor goes in to conference with the HG member by
- It is not possible to monitor an external hunt group call, which appears on the line key.
- It is not possible to monitor a set, which has SM supervisor capability set to Yes.
providing a tone.

- While monitoring,if the HG call becomes inactive(Releases the call or puts on Hold) the
monitoring stops and supervisor display shows “<HG member DN>:Idle”.
• Limitations
- Only external HG calls can be monitored (Not internal HG calls).
- In order for the supervisor to be able to monitor, the hunt group member DN should have
its active call as the hunt group call.
- The supervisor can only use sets with two line displays for invoking the feature.
- In order to start monitoring a call, Supervisor set should be free.
- In order to monitor a call intercom key should be free at supervisor.
- A call which is a part of Norstar conference (Either slave or master) cannot be monitored.
- If the HG member being monitored releases/holds/transfers the hunt groups call, the
monitoring session at the supervisor will get automatically stopped.
- If the supervisor presses any key other than hands free and intercom key (used for Silent
Monitoring) while monitoring a HG member DN, the monitoring session will get terminated.
- If the HG member parks the HG call, monitoring session will be stopped. Once the HG
member retrieves the parked call the monitoring session cannot be resumed because the
retrieved call won't comes as a HG call.
- Currently maximum number of Supervisors allowed in a system is 30.
-It is not possible to monitor an hunt group call for a portable and ISDN set.

in programing look under two locations. First in system programming you will find SMsets=# with 5 being the default. This is close to if not the last entry under systemprograming.
Second under Term&Sets->Capabilities->SMSupervisor=N change it to yes for the phone you will have as SM supervisor. Remember that it must be a two line phone

review the installers guide pages 34, 445, 319, 410 for info relevent to SM JerryReeve

I kinda figured that out in the documentation CD. My problem is that these prompt choices aren't there to make. Yada Yada Yada, and no Silent Monitoring. Sorry, watched Seinfeld last nite.... It is MICS DR6.0, SP:30BwE02 NAT. Anyone else doing 6.0? darnold@americaii.com

I tried to set this up today based on info from this post and am running into the same problems as redhawkfla I to have MICS DR6.0, SP:30BwE02 NAT Release 1 software. The cd documentation does not have any of the information described in this post. Only a MCDN break-in feature that doesnt show up in software programming. Do we need the MCDN keycode to make this work? Anyone had luck with this?

Thanks

You can find the programming information on all the new features on a pdf file on the CD. I have done a STARTUP on the system just in case it was upgrade related, but it still doesn't off the prompts described. This file on the CD is called:

MICS-6.0-Transfer Tech.pdf

Anyone else having the problems? darnold@americaii.com

I have just found out that MICS 6.0 software does not have Silent Monitoring available despite the CD included with the MICS 6.0 telling you how to program it. Silent Monitoring in Hunt Groups is now in beta testing and is slated to be available on MICS 6.1 software.

That figures, there is always some problems with Nortel's first release of any software. Any idea on when 6.1 is going to be released?
