I am currently testing the viability of updating all our workstations to virusscan 4.5.1 SP1. I have a spare Win95 workstation and by creating a login script can silently install 4.5.1 SP1 onto it. (only install option at min as no Epo or anything)

However, if I install version 4.0.3 from my original CD onto this workstation and then try to run the login script 4.5.1 won't install. Version 4.0.3 is removed but that's it. version 4.5.1 isn't installed instead.

Any ideas anybody????

Many thanks

amendment to previous post.

I've noted that the workstation has to be rebooted after the previous version has been removed in order for the installation of 4.5.1 to start.

Anyone any ideas on how to force the restart??

They way I've handled this in the past is to use a 2-part script. First part removes any previous version of VSC and reboots. After the reboot, the second part installs VSC 4.5.1 SP1. It does lengthen the logon process - which our users aren't thrilled by, but it gets the job done.
