Hello,

I am trying to create an automeated way to deploy new realeases of the Groupwise client by using a silent mode install.

The groupwise silent install works perfectly (run while logged on at a user level) but after the install all of my MS office applcations referr mach to the original MSI file and the windows install opens and the program will not lauch.

We are also running Active Directory on our domain and our Users do not have rights to install software.

every MS office application bombs becuase the user's do not have rights to run the msi...

Any ideas?

Note: the groupwise update work perfectly in my environment... the resulting MS office MSI installer issue is the hang up.

Thanks!
J

You didn't mention which version of GroupWise you're installing.

In the automated install, did you use a "setup.cfg" file? If so, did you disable all of the "Integration Apps"? Not sure?

Navigate to <software distrubution directory>\software\client\win32\. Look for "setup.cfg". Open it using notepad. Scroll down to the [IntegrationApps] section. My recommendation would be for all options under this section to be set to "No".

We've had a bunch of problems in the past with GroupWise/Microsoft Office integration. Go here for more info on how to set up the "setup.cfg" file.

6.0x (sorry)

I am using a setup.iss file created by using the

setup.exe -r switch

I'm doing the silent install with the -s switch.

I did not use any of the office app integration during the setup.iss creation.

Thanks!

Okay. I thought you went a different route. I didn't realize that when you said "silent install" you meant "silent install" [blush], which would require the "iss" file.

Instead, in GroupWise, go to Tools > Options... Double-click documents. On the Integrations tab uncheck "Enable Integrations" if it's enabled.

If it's not enabled, then I apologize for taking you on a wild goose chase. Perhaps someone else has a different suggestion.
