Hi

A workstation hesitates for more than 20 seconds when clicking the Start button. There is no indication of any system activity - nor are there any extraordinary services running. The machine has had its memory upgrade - although the problem existed before the upgrade. The specs are 866 PIII, w/384MB RAM, no-name NIC card. I am considering removing the original RAM module to see if that makes a difference. I have deleted temp files, adjusted system resources, etc. to no avial. Please suggest any steps I have overlooked.
thnx!

long shot......try disabling any virus software that is installed....
also try going into VGA mode at bootup and see if that makes a difference..... Jay~

There is a registry setting that delays the start button (and sub folders) from firing. Doubt this will help though.

hkeyCU/control panel/desktop/menushowdelay or minanimate (forget which as I change both). Try setting both to 1 and see if it improves things.
