Significant figures error when importing records from excel

when i am importing information from a spreadsheet into filemaker pro, fields in excel that were calculated and left with a certain amount of significant figures then exported to filemaker pro and put in apporpriate fields then have more significant figures. Is there any way i can limit the amount of significant figures a field has?

The title of your post indicates an 'error'.
Probably an error in FileMaker.

Can you give us more information about this error.

For now I can't see/understand what the real problem is.

Ok , The problem is that i have a worksheet on xcel that has calculations in them and rounds it to lets just say 4 significant figures, when i export it to filemaker pro into corresponding fileds, filemaker takes the calculation and expands the number to way more than 4 significant figures.

Is a normal behavior.
FileMaker will ignore the 'cosmetic' round from Excel.

Or you can use the Round() function in FileMaker, or you can use the cosmetic 'format' number field.
