Signature prints on second page

Hello. We have email signatures created in word and saved at HTML files. The signature shows up and seems to be working fine however when anyone prints an email message their signature will print on a second page regardless of how much empty space is on the first page. You can have an email with 1 line in it and the signature still prints on a second page. Has anyone else run into this problem? Any ideas about how to fix this?
