Signalling Delays

Can anybody give me any pointers on overcoming delays in transfering calls.

i.e.

We have external Voicemail using DPNSS, to get there we dial a 4 digit code, which IS the destination for voicemail (there is no number translation, truncation or prefix).

One of the problems that we are experiencing is through the switchboards (OWS - DNA), when they call an extension that is busy with divert to VMX OR has a straight divert to VMX there is a LONG delay before the signalling is complete and the Operator is able to release the call... So the operator has to watch the call and release at exactly the right time. A slight delay means that the caller misses the voicemail introduction and in some cases doesn't know that they should actually be speaking as the system has started to record.

"Auto Extend" gets close to resolving the issue, but it is impractical for use in our particular environment, it also not quite quick enough.

I know there are other solutions that will allow the switchboard to transfer a call directly to a voicemail account, but this IS NOT what we are looking for.. speed is of the essence.

I guess in simplest term we are looking for some sort of "Blind Transfer", but it would appear that this is not available.

Any help, tips, pointers appreciated.

Cheers
Al

where is the delay coming from ?

I cant see a DPNSS link coming from an MD to a VMX, presumably in the same room as causing a delay.

What is the VMX ?

what software and what card are you using for the DPNSS

can you do print outs for
ROCAP
RODAP

Agreed, the sytem is only feet away from the MD.

I have been over this with the maintainer, the real issue is not JUST the delay, but the very specific timing required to actually transfer the call... If anything i need to be able to transfer the call before the VMX answers.

The problem is likely an answer supervision issue......I know of another site that has the same problem under the same circumstances. If it's not practical to change the MD/Voicemail interface from DPNSS to CAS, then there are 2 things you can try....

1)Change D4 in the SIG parameter to 0 (no b-answer received)

or

2)NANLS:EXL=xxxx,MIN=4,MAX=4;

or both in combo.

Good luck,

Dave Strang

Thanks Dave i think i have tried both of those, but i will give it another shot when i get back into the office.

Cheers

In addition to changing D4 in SIG to 0, you may also want to change D18 in ADC for the DPNSS route to 1 (also has to do with B-answer).

Good luck,

Had a crack at all of those, in all of the combinations.. no joy.

Thanks
anyway
