Ok here's my situation..

We are currently in the process of staging an upgrade for our local school district.

The Opt.81C and Opt.61C (currently running Succession 3.0) will be replaced with a CS1000 (CPPM CS and CPPM SS) running 5.50j. The Opt.61C is at the Admin location and the Opt. 81C is another location where Call Pilot and the OTM 2.20 servers are located as well as the ITG node is built in OTM for the 60+ small sites (Elementary schools, etc.)

We are "upgrading" the Admin location first.. BUT to keep the existing five digit dialing and the ability to have the Admin site access to the Call Pilot we are needing to have the OTM communicate with the new system at the Admin site so that it can recieve/route calls appropriatly.

I know you can have the ITGs register with the NRS BUT we have yet to find a way to have the new signaling servers "register" with the OTM server as an end-point so that we can dial across the H.323 network?

Any ideas on this?

Thanks!

From what I remember many years ago, was that OTM was used to create a dial plan for input onto the ITG card. Things have changed now in that the Signalling Server acts as the control point for all of the IP traffic.

The NRS just needs to have an end point created with details of your ITG cards name and IP address. The NRS will need to have the required extension numbers added in and in effect takes control over the call process.

I think you still need the dial plan, but you have to have the Sig Servers IP address against each number and that is still controlled via input from the OTM / TM Server.

You'll need to create the endpoints in the new NRS, and add your dialplan entries to the NRS. You can configure the ITG trunk cards at the remote sites to do a dynamic H.323 registration to the NRS.

If you got really lucky, maybe you have some ITG ISDN trunk ISMs in your new keycodes, then you could continue to run the ITG trunk card(s) as you migrate the remote sites. I think EC converts all the ITG trunk ISMs to H.323 trunks, so that probably won't be an option.

I don't think there is an easy way to do this, short of program the NRS with the dialplan before the upgrade, then reconfigure the remote ITG trunk cards to register to the NRS. Make sure the ITG trunk cards are on 3.01.60 software as well.
