Hello, I've a little problem over here.

We currently have a Rhino Channel Bank, that will allow us to change the signaling protocol of the all 24 channels, but we are unable to change the protocol for each individual line separately. The question I have relates to the 408 GS/LS-MLX boards, and the 800 DID boards.

Basically, we need to use both of these boards. From what I read, the DID board will only accept immediate or wink start, while I would safely assume that the 408 GS/LS will only work with ground or loop start. Is there any one protocol I can use for all the channels that will work correctly, or must I just go purchase a channel bank that will let me change the protocol on a line-by-line basis? Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Losing sanity,

I believe you'll have to set each channel to the specifiic protocol. LS/GS cards are looking for just that. Either Loop start of ground start. As well as a DID card looks for wink start only. LS/GS doesn't see the wink start and you can't reconfigure the card.

send the channel bank back and go for an Adtran. They have modules that can each be defined individualy.

Better yet...just put in a T1 card and elimnate the need/troubles of a channel bank...I understand its a cost issue.

Cost shouldn't even be a problem! If this is a Merlin Legend (with a plastic carrier), you can acquire T1 modules for under $350 with a one-year warranty from Ebay!

Most channel banks will cost more than that, once their outfitted the way you need them.
