Hello, have an existing Tie line we are are adding another span; on the signaling group I added the second D-channel in doing so I made the Priamry D- Channel interface ID 1 and the secondary d-channel interface ID 2. Should it be Interface ID 0 and Interface ID 1 instead? Not sure what the interface ID is for. If I try to change it tells me I must remove the channels....If I status the sig group shows me the 1st one in-service and the 2nd one in stand-by.

Thanks for any help!

Typically it starts with 0.

However this really needs to be provided to you by the carrier. If you don't index them properly you will have all kinds of different problems with calls on those trunks.

Agreed that the first T1 span is interface ID 0. Also agreed that this type of configuration is reserved to T1 groups that connect to the PSTN via local provider.

Typically with tie trunks you create a separate signal group for each T1 span and then add the new ports and sig group to the existing tie trunk.

This is usually used with "NFAS" Signalling, where the first 2 PRI circuits are your "Active" and "Standby" D-Channels, then when adding a 3rd, 4th, or 5th PRI SPAN, you add the DS1 form as "isdn-ext", and you are then allowed to use the 24th channel for a B channel, rather than a D channel. Other than this use, it doesn't have much purpose, and the carrier must be %100 on the same page with this setup as well.
