One of our cusatomers have problems with an analog circuit working one minute, and dropping out almost within 5 seconds or so.Now,they are using a huge Siemon system, model unknown. They are sharing the switch with another building about 1800 feet off premise. Is this more commonly a distance issue with the analog signal?Or an issue with the protectors? Here is the layout:

BLDG 1
110 Block-------Protector
Trans to OSP Cable-----BLDG 2
Protector
Back to ISP CAble----------BDG 2
110 Block

THANKS.

have you tried the circuit at the switch side before it goes out to the other building ?

Yes, It is fine at the switch.Thanks.

next question

is this something new you are just trying to get to work or is it something that has been working and is now started to act up ?

You may need to move the analog line to an Off-Premise Extension (OPX) circuit in the Siemens switch. Because of the distance (>2,000 ft.) it is possible that your loop impedence is so high, that you are barely breaking the 600 ohm impedence specified for the analog circuit. An OPX circuit will typically handle a 1300 ohm loop, allowing for a lot more wire between you and the switch.
