Very interesting. both my children can communicate using ASL, one of them out of current necessity. The differences in subject-verb agreement/arrangement between English & ASL made it horrendously difficult to learn at first.

Imagine that ... bilingual deaf people.

I used to communicate with my kids in BSL when they were at one end of the hall and I was at the other. Those were the pre-mobile phone days.

British, as opposed to American Sign Language?

I want to be good, is that not enough?

Yes, BSL is British Sign Language which very different from ASL, American Sign Language, both of which are different from Gestuno which is an International Sign Language.

There is also SEE - Sign Exact English, and I believe that Australia has its own version of Sign Language as well.
