Thanks for taking the time,
We are presently in the process of evaluating for purchase (vendor suggested) Siemens HiPATH 3000,requiring a present configuration consisting of 2 cabinets to equal our present usage. Price until more research/input is the only driving force, as Siemens quote is well below Avaya & Nortel
pricing packages.I guess one of my concerns are..where we stand in the HiPath's flexibilty for the furture when the HICom line wasn't offered, possibly bringing the quotes closer.
Our present config is:
Analog 304..Digital 80..Co 37..DID 16

Again, all comments welcome and Tks

jacassc,

I am currently managing 6 Hipath 3000's with numerous other PBX systems in our network. The 3000 is a very stable solution and has a lot of very good features. The only downfall is the administration and the ACD or UCD as they call it. Manager E is the admin tool used to configure the system and it is not very user friendly. If you have a need for advanced ACD features I wouldn't recommend this solution. The UCD is not a traditional ACD application. It is more like a glorified hunt group. We are struggling to get good ACD stats off of these systems. And to get the ACD routing to route the way we would like. All in all if there isn't a big ACD need the 3000 is a very good PBX. We have had some of ours for 5 years without any down time!!

I would recommend the Ericsson MD110, which I have been servicing as second line engineer for 15 years.
At the present stage the MD110 BC12 SP7 is a state-of-the-art telephony solution. The applications are quite user friendly - which make our job as maintenace easier, as less questions (and fault reports) come from our customers!
I suggest you contact your local Ericsson dealer to see what Ericsson can offer.

Best regards doktor

I forgot to tell you that the ACD - solution in the MD110 is very advances with features as skill based routing, dynamic queueing, agent log-in/log-out of up to 8 ACD groups.
The ACD statstics programme (CCM Call Centre Manager) gives easy to understand reports or diagrams.

Best regards doktor

The Hipath would be fine for that as a basic PBX. Sounds like its the cost tht is swying you, and for value for money it is good. Like mentioned before, the ACD (UCD) offering is mince, but I find very very few customers use that - that's not why you buy it. The system has limitations, but a good engineer working for your provider will be able to work out good work arounds for a lot of things.

In terms of developement, the idea of makign the 300 was to bring it into some sort of 'family' with other Siemens products, and they should be developing this for a good few years to come.

From my point of view (engineer) i feel limited on it sometimes, and if you want an abstract set up, avoid it, but for a big office block, yeah - why not?

Whether IP, TDM, or a hybrid solution, I won't buy another phone system that forces you to put paper templates on the phones. If the HiPath 3000 is the system I'm thinking of, with the new phones being the Opti-something, and magenta in color, you're still using paper templates. I know there are more important things to think about, but since moving to Nortel M39XX phones on a Meridian system, it's nice to see paper templates left behind forever. They make the phones look ugly, you need full time clerical support to manage them, and if you leave them to the users they'll just screw them up. Just my $.02
