For some reasons I am experiencing a total loss problem with Memo (SKwrite)data on SK99?

I am using Windows 7.

From time to time the program will not load after password entered. When the program is reinstalled. ALL Write data (but not card or calendar date) has been erased, just leaving the file tab names but with NO content.

This has happened several times now, and I'm wondering if it is time to change to another system.

Is there anything modern that is similar to Sidekick, as I much prefer it simplicity and layout over say just using MS Word files.

I do have some old data to covert to give me a start with a new system, otherwise I will have to copy data daily which would be a pain.

Anyone else experienced the same problem?

Many thanks in advance. John

Dear mejohnnyrocket,

This might Happen if the Write Files are located in a subfolder in the Program Files Folder as Write files produce a Temporary file when they are open and there might be some problem as Windows 7 does not allow temp files in the C:\Program Files directory...
I hope if you installed Sidekick on Windows7 that you put the program on the Root of the C:\ drive..
i.e. in C:\Starfish\Sidekick99
Did you?

Thanks for the responses,

At present This is running on Windows 7 64 Bit.

The data loss has occurred whilst running Sidekick in the root of the hard drive. Any ideas?
Also when installed the calendar with months were not displayed at all at the top?
Finally! Now having difficulty running it at all staying on "sidekick" splash screen and going no further until reinstalling. Compatibility was being used for the exe in xpsp3 mode and vistasp2. Makes no difference.

Any ideas on this as I've tried all tips that i've seen but haven't helped.

Cheers

John

Dear John

I was not asking where the program was installed I was wondering where the Data (Cardfiles) are stored.

Probably best to uninstall and then reboot and re-install the program as administrator by right clicking the install program and choosing to run as Administrator.

If you have any problems starting Sidekick after the re-install right click on the shortcut on the desktop and choose to run in compatibility mode for XP service patch 3 is usually fine!
Regarding Splash screen not loading see faq807-5203
