Can you assist me in the steps necessary to accomplish exporting my address book from sidekick '99 to MS Office Outlook. I am lost. Thanks very much!

Dear Fozzle,
The procedure for address book / Cardfiles goes as follows (Be aware that The Contact log is not exported in SK99 Download Internet Sidekick if you need to do that):
First create a subfolder of your Contacts folder in Outlook2003
then
For Sidekick99:
File|Export Cardfile|Next|
Browse to the file you Wish to Export
Choose Open
Next
Choose the Target file type to Export to by selecting it in the lower text box:
Choose ASCII Tab-Delimited Text (*.txt)
The default name is fine (you can edit it in the upper box) but remember it is a Text file.
Next
Add All
And That is all there is to getting it out of Sidekick.
Then to get it into Outlook2003 I suppose it is very like Outlook97 so here goes:
File|Import and Export...
Import from Schedule+ or another program or file,
Next
Select file type to import from:
Tab separated Values (Windows) and then NEXT
Browse to the file you exported from Sidekick (The txt one),
Choose to allow duplicates as you will then definitely have all the Data but it may be an idea to create that Subfolder in your Outlook Contacts before you do any of the above and then when you have imported the .txt file into that folder you can drag the ones you want into your Contact Folder.
Then the hard bit is where you
Map your custom fields
ie Line up ones from Sidekick with the Outlook ones and when you click Finish it goes ahead and does it.
If you are not satisfied with the mapping you can delete all the cards in that Outlook folder and go from Import and Export in Outlook again so repeat the steps in Outlook until you are satisfied

Please help!

I not sure I am using tek-tips correctly, but I looking for someone who is familar with sidekick 99. I have been using sidekick for a number of years. Over the holidays I had to upgrade my operating system for windows 98 to windows 98 version 2. After putting sidekick 99 back on my machine some of the information was gone. Under contacts, if I selected a card, the basic info. was still there ie. name, address, phone. But before my reinstall I had a horizontal line below "notes" ,the last field of my contact, that speperated the card in half. In this area I would put additional notes. That portion of the card is gone. Is it possible to get that info back?
Thanks
Bill

Dear billpauer,
If you have the later version of Sidekick99 (ver 6.01) look up to the top right of the Card and you should see a paperclip icon if you click on that you will see the Contact Log which I believe is the part of the card that you are looking for.
Sidekick99 originally didn't have that in the first version and if you have that version see the FAQ area of this forum for the download address of the later version click on this LINK

One point though, please post new questions as a new post not at the bottom of another thread as your question might not even be seen.
I don't mean any offence, it is just that it is best if you wish to reach as wide an audience as possible.
