I am new to forum and I sure am glad to find you guys out there !!!!!!
I have been using sidekick since the first version and absolutely LOVE it, but am
frustrated with Starfish for giving up on us loyal users. Do you think that we could
find a way to petition them to start up a new version?

I have tried Anytime Deluxe, Outlook, Organizer, Info Select and a few others, and none of them match the completeness of Sidekick and the ease of use of Sidekick.

My real question is:
Is there a way to filter out or not have "to do's" print when you print a MONTH calendar?

Thanks so much for any assistance you can provide,
Gene

Dear Eagle6,
I have just tested it and can only do it as a workaround by opening the Calendar in SDK98 and filtering out the SDK99 ToDo's
But unfortunately the Calls do not convert over to SDK98.

Definitely a bit of a pain and makes it unsuitable, so that doesn't work as you probably know already.

The only solution seems to be, to revert back to SDK98 with the Patch as that seems to give you all the options including Dial Out from Contacts and Todo's.

As you can see it is possible to install SDK98 and SDK99 on the same machine Install them in different folders (The default installation does anyway)
Just don't try to run them at the same time!
I don't believe that running them at the same time is Fatal but
certainly Not to be recommended

HTH Regards Jim

Tks alot Jim,
How can I get the cd/files for sidekick 98? I got rid of my original c/d? ( not to smart on that one ) Are there any key differences that I will see, it has been so long since I had it installed? Can I open up my existing sk*files in '98?
If all I lose is my calls, I don't care.

Thanks again,
Gene

Dear Gene,
Check out the FAQ area of this Forum for the method of getting SDK98 and The Yr2000 Patch and you will be pleased to know that the Cardfiles and the Calendar et al will open perfectly in SDK98.
Install the patch and observe all the details as regards the installation and all should go ok.

It (SDK98) is an 8MB download though, so use a download manager to allow you to resume transfer if necessary, and save it on another partition for any time you may need it again.

Back up all your data and cardfiles/Calendar files/expense files etc.
See the FAQ about that too.

By the way if you have any special envelope or label formats set up in SDK99 remember to back up the following files which contain the layouts of the labels/envelopes/phone fields/etc (they are in C:\Star99\Data)
and copy them to the corresponding folder in SDK98)
These are the files:

sklayout.skw
skwlb2.skw
skwnv2.skw
skwph2.skw

HTH Regards Jim

Jim - THANKS ALOT - everyting worked fine!
I downloaded sk98 & patch, installed and am now up an running again........

I remembered now that the immediate thing that I liked about sk99 over 98 was the "cleaner" look to the desktop, expecially in calendar view, but, oh well.....

I think the function of 98 is a little better and more customizable.....

Take care, I am sure we'll be talking again
