Can't find my Sidekick 98 email setup dialog box. Any suggestions?

Dear pelorian,

Tools | Setup | Wizard

Check the FAQ area of this Forum for answers (If there are any FAQs!) , it could save you a lot of time and effort!

Thanks Jim,
I have no problem getting to the wizard, but the only windows it takes me through are: Welcome, Automated Setup, Continue Using MS Exchange,Preferred Profile-MS Exchange Settings,Choose the MS Exchange Services,Automatic Schedule, Finished. There is never a window which allows mne to set the Incoming & Outgoing server addresses, etc.

If rather than accepting MS Exchange, I choose Go To Custom Setup to choose another E-Mail mewsaging system, the wizard searches for some file and then shuts the program down entirely.

Ah Ha,

Which means I don't know!
What operating system are you on?
Is this the old installation or after a re-install?
If you decide to re-install check out the FAQ pages at my site
See faq807-2966 for the address of the FAQ pages.

Jim,

I'm using XP. But I didn't configure Sidekick for E-mail when I first installed it several months ago on this PC. I'll try an new installation and see if that somehow re-establishes the needed Incoming/Outgoing server wizard window; and post the results.

Jim,
I re-installed, but still don't get any windows thru the wizard that allow address data installation for incoming & outgoing email. Could you tell me what windows come up for you when you go into Setup Wizard. I still only get, in the following order: Welcome, Automated Setup, Continue Using MS Exchange,Preferred Profile-MS Exchange Settings,Choose the MS Exchange Services,Automatic Schedule, Registration, etc, Finished.

Dear Victor,

I use Eudora for my email and always have but I have set up Outlook for my Sidekick email settings and this is the routine for me:

Welcome, Automated Setup, Continue Using Eudora,Preferred Profile-MS Exchange Settings,I then do get the MSExchange Services + Automatic Schedule, Registration, etc, Finished.

I do not have any profiles set up in Outlook so I get a blank choice but I did get the sending but not receiving going by selecting manual setup choosing Other and as I had Outlook as the default client it sent out the messages.
You will have to forgive me as I have never used that system anyone else know?

Regards
Jim

Jim,
Thanks for taking the time for this. When you say "I did get the sending but not receiving going by selecting manual setup choosing Other", where are you finding the manual setup?
Victor

Jim,
I just found the window. When I click on Custom Setup (advanced), the program starts searching for some file and then shuts down Sidekick entirely after about 10 seconds. But if I interrupt it, which I just did, it takes me to the Other window and voila, there is the window I have been loking for. Thanks for your help. I think this solves the problem.

Victor

Dear pelorian,

Sorry, I should have mentioned that about interrupting the search after a couple of seconds (still you got that anyway) and then choosing what you want. Also making Outlook the default mail handler is important too.

Great to hear you got there (hopefully)
Regards
Jim
