Installed Win 7 RC 7260. Gigabyte MB with ATI video on MB
It has the Windows 7 latest beta driver for the MB video
I have shut Aero off and only have Basic 7 display.

I have 2 sites streaming video.
Both streaming servers are running XP SP3
Site one has 4 video streams and the display is perfect.

Site two has 8 video streams
The pictures on each element from site two are perfect.
Site two causes flickering of the taskbar / sidebar / flickering of the taskbar display popup when hovered over the icon on the taskbar.
Flickering intensifies as video streams are added to the program's display. 4 streams cause intense flickering affecting fonts / html display / mouse problems
Adding more streams is worse.
I have no problems with client programs on Vista or XP.
The software is made by International DVR software v. 5.1 / Phototec
Images of the software can be viewed at The video input is to a 7816 16 channel pci card

Any help is appreciated.

Have you tried adjusting the Hardware Acceleration for the machine to see if slowing it down (temporarily) helps?

Set Hardware Acceleration Windows Vista.

Click Start, type desk.cpl in the Start Search box, and then click desk.cpl in the Programs list.

Click Advanced Settings.
On the Troubleshoot tab, click Change settings.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.

In the Display Adapter Troubleshooter dialog box, drag the Hardware acceleration slider two notches to the left of the Full setting, and then click OK three times.

I believe you may have the answer but the onboard video driver for the ATI HD 3300 does not permit any changes to adjust the hardware acceleration. After a lot of reading of posts, it appears I may have to get a better graphics card that does allow it.
If you have any other suggestions, let me know.
My motherboard is a Gigabyte Quad core running Windows 7.
It has an onboard ATI HD 3300 graphics adapter.
If you have any ideas for further attempts to solve the problem, I welcome them.

Thanks for the quick reply..

Thanks a lot for the hints.

I downloaded the RC and when I tried to update it , it complained the version on the computer was newer and I didn't want to install the new version at this time wiping out what I have.

I ordered new windows 7 premium updates for the release date and also a new video card from NewEgg.

I am going to try the new video card on one machine running Win 7 and see what the effect is.

The people accessing the video streams are all running XP / Vista and won't have problems remotely accessing the systems so it is no issue for them.

The system is working well as it is except for the flickering on my Win 7 machines and I can live with that.
If the video card doesn't solve the problem, I believe I will wait until the release comes and work from there.
After all.... I am almost 80... I have lots of time... nothing is important... I have lots of time to putter around.. ( I have been at this since 1970 so it is nothing new but it is lots of fun)....
Thanks for the help.. I am sure I will have many more requests for help. I sure appreciate you all for the answers you give..

BigBadBen..

I installed the RC Win 7 on another machine with the same specs.

It didn't make any difference in the problem.

It flickers just like the 7260 Version..

As I said, I am waiting for the video card to get here next week. At that time, I will decide what to do.

Thanks.

AlvinYorkie, OK, keep us posted, as it could be a play between the Software, video drivers, graphics card, and the OS...

my bet is that it is the build in video, as it shares memory with the system, and is causing slow downs in data transfer (memory wise)...

I installed a new HIS 4850x2 video card. I then contacted the surveillance site. The flickering remains and as many video streams are added, it gets pretty violent. The video card has 512 memory.

I connected to the website with my laptop (ati onboard) Quosmio. It flickered violently too. Vista Ultimate on the laptop.

XP machines have no problem.

If a remote access is running on anything but Vista or Win 7.
They will probably have problems.

I did have one machine running Vista that worked ok..

I can't figure out what is happening.

I do have another problem with the new video card.
I will make a new post on it.

Thanks.

Have you looked at other running programs causing problems, perhaps anti virus or other security type programs?

Miracle of Miracles..
For about the 10th time rebooting since I installed the card the Gadgets are in the proper place.
The strange thing is that it has the gadgets that were in the settings file ... the Clock, the RSS feed and Slideshow

There isn't the gadgets it had before rebooting.
I can add those back..

Thanks everyone for the help !!!

I gave up on trying to make the software work without flickering.
I am installing a Geovision card that says it works with Vista and I believe it should be just fine..

Thanks everyone !!!
