SID inconsistent with trust info for that domain ?!?

I have just performed an in-place upgrade to a Windows 2000 member server to Windows 2003, and now I cannot log into the domain. I recieve the following message:

"
The system cannot log you on due to the following error:

The name of security ID (SID) of the domain specified is inconsistent with the trust information for that domain.

Please try again or consult your system administrator.
"

I'm a little confused as I have upgraded (in place) other member servers and had no problem. Has anyone come accross this before?
