This was really easy to do in Rational Robot, but it seems impossible in QTP. How do I shut off coordinates in the expert view? I want it to recognize names and indexes NOT the location of the object.

Read the docs, didn't see anything about this.

HELP!!

Hi,

Did you try to set the identification properties using the 'Object identification...' option located in the Tools folder?

If u did not read on......

1) Goto Tools-->Object Identification...
2) Select the 'Environment' you are working on(windows,web,TE etc).Make sure you have the add-ins loaded.
3) Select the 'Test Object Class'(e.g link,window,webbutton etc)
4) There are 2 kinds of properties that you could set for identifying an object. Mandatory and assistive, use the add/remove tab to select/deselect the properties you want to associate with an object.
5)In the ordinal identifier, select 'Index' from the dropdown and click 'ok'.
6)Rerecord the object you want to test and check for the properties.

Hope this helps you...

Cheers,
QTPer.
