How do I shut down windows, just using the keyboard?

On XP, it was simple:windows U U
I had enough confidence to do this on a headless machine.

I can't figure out what it is on W10. The best I can get is Windows tab down down down down return down return

Looks like a bit of a mission - the problem with these graphical things is that you never know where the cursor is. Would be nice if it was windows tab up return down return but the cursor doesn't wrap on W10.

I've tried Alt-F4 return - that only works if nothing else is running. If there is anything running, it closes down that application.

Is there a simpler way?

Thanks, rclarke250!

That's definitely better than some other methods I've used.

One thing I do often when working remotely on machines to reboot is open a command prompt and enter:
shutdown -r -t 0

If you want it to shutdown instead of restart, I think it's just -s instead of -r.

The more I see the Windows + X menu, the more I like it.

Shutdown is great if you have a cmd prompt. Problem is I deal with a lot of headless machines - they are headless because either they are turnkey systems, or, more often than not, someone has nicked the monitor.

windows + x is a good solution
