shutdown -Fr powers down server

Sat at home this weekend and had a kernel change to make that needed a reboot.

Issued a shutdown -Fr but instead of rebooting server powered off !!!

Anyone experienced this before - any cures ???
Server is a P680 running 5.1 ML3

does the errorreport say anything?
We had a similar scenario once.It appeared the DMS had been triggered,this leads to an immediate shutdown of the machine

We also have similar pb on our P570 : when we execute the "shutdown -Fr" command, the partiton shuts down but don't reboot... I'm waiting for to obtain from Ibm a new microcode level.

did you check the lpar profile settings catagory "other" make sure normal boot selected not sms
