Since installation of Norton Antivirus 2004, shut off of my computer takes a lot of time. It appears that there is files scanning during that time. How could I disable system files scanning at shut off? I have Windows 98.

Any help appreciated.

Welcome to the world of Norton. You might look for an option that says to scan floppies at shut down, or simply right click on the norton icon in your system tray and disable it, then shut down. When you start back up, it should launch as normal.

P.S. Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

Hello mattjurado,

I disabled the floppy scanning option at shut down. The shut down is a bit faster but nor much. The right clicking on the icon didn't change nothing.

You might try uninstalling and reinstalling the program, but that's just likely how it is on your computer, sorry...
