Hi All,

I have 3 sub reports each with different widths, and one of the sub reports is too wide for a letter size layout, even with margins set to zero. Normally i would adjust the content of the subreport to fit the main report. But in this case, i cant find any more space to give, and the fonts have already become incredibly small.

I know that theres a way to fit the sub report onto the main report by shrinking it. but I cant find the controls for it. I have another database (not done by me) that has the same situation but was able to shrink the wider subreport to fit the main report. (the sub report is 15"(w) by 4", and was able to fit into a letter size landscape layout). does anyone know the means to achieve this? and I dont think Can Grow and Can Shrink are the options controlling that.

Thanks

You seem to be asking how to shrink it but you don't want the text any smaller. I am at a loss as to what you want.

i guess what i am trying to say is that Access have some kind of control or report properties that will fit/shrink a larger subreport to the main report without having to readjust the sizes of all the contents in the sub report. This will save me a lot of time to manually readjust everything i had setup in the sub reports.

There is nothing that I am aware of that will do this. There are some form resizers but I haven't seen any report resizers.

However, I have written some code in the past that opens a report in design view and asks for a scale factor. The code then loops through all controls on the report and updates the height, width, top, left, and font size based on the scale. For instance, if you entered a scale factor of .5, the report would be 1/2 size.

I finally figure out how the reports were shrinking. It had nothing to do with access, but rather the scale functionality in adobe acrobat. it's simply that the sub reports were formatted with 11x18 paper, then acrobat scales it down to letter size... thus when i see page setup... access is still recognizing the main report as Letter paper size.

what a relieve...

thanks dhookom for your advice...
