I need someone's help please. I am new to this adobe photoshop program and I need to know how to shrink a photo file down. I am trying to put my pictures of some paintings that I have on a website and it is returned to me saying the images are too big. Can someone help me with this problem please. If you can use crayons when you respond that would be helpful as well!!!

...yes, some sites have a image size limit (in kilo bytes and sometimes pixel dimensions too), it would help to know what that limit is to be able to help you further.

To change an image size for the website to be able to use, the 'save for web' option under the 'file' menu will be the way to go...

...have a look on the website you are trying to upload to and look for the limit they specify...

if you can, crop your picture to keep only a piece you really want (like keep the person and eliminate most of the surrounding scenery) then as appep suggests, save as web.

there is more you can do like reducing color etc but that may not be necessary.

Sometimes the Save For Web option works better if you reduce the size of the image first. Go to Image > Image Size... and make sure Resample is checked.

ok
here a simple way to do that !
open your photo with adobe photoshop, go to "image/image size.." menu
there yo can change yur picture size and resolution too, don't forget that your image must be 72 Dpi.

ok try this [afro2]

hmmmm... the 72dpi myth surfaces again... I've yet to see a web browser that pays any attention to the resolution. Just stick to pixel dimensions for web sites, the resolution is completely irrelevant.
