shrink xls file during export at report manager

Hi ,

I'm using the subscription in report manager to create ,export to xls and mail a report.
The xls is getting a huge size which causes problems to open it.
When opening the file and saving it the size reduces a lot.
So is there a way to reduce the file size at the moment of the export ?

I'm using sql 2005 , sp2
