Is there a way to shrink the size of image stored in the table. The quality of the image can reduce too.

Regain space: the problem we are having is that we are using MSDE 2000 and it has reached 1.96 GB and thus it does not let us save any more data.

What can I do to free up space?

when you indicate image, are you talking about a field in your db with data type image? With using 1.96 G, I would suggest pulling out your wallet and purchasing sql server.

Get SQL 2000 Standard.

Don't store the images within the database. Only store a pointer to the image within the database. Store the image it self as a file on the disk.

If you need to shrink the pictues which are stored within the database you'll need to export them from the SQL Server, edit this with MS Paint, or photoshop or something then reimport them into the SQL Server.
