Showing new data in Formview after insert

I am at a standstill with formview. As I have it right now, the user enters the values into formview, which then enters it into the database. Following that, formview changes to Edit view, but instead of edit view on the just inserted item, it shows the first item in the database. I would like the edit view to show the just inserted value so the user has the option to edit or continue. Any ideas?

Return the ID of the newly inserted record and bind your FormView based on that ID?
