I have a vb6 program that uses an access 2000 database.
Every week i like to compact the database from access, but i keep getting the message "database is open by user xxxx" or something like that, even though no other systems are even turned ON?
The database sits on a seperate machine (win98se)and each user runs the program with drive mappings to the db.
Is there a way to automatically, or programatically, kill all users of the database before doing the compact?
Right now all i can do is reboot the server system and even that tells me there are people logged in with files open?
HELP!!!!!

Thanks in advance.

hi microdoc,

the easiest way i have found is using an Arvin Meyer method. check out "kick'em off2K" at:

i have used this method for several years now and it works like a champ. there is nothing more frustrating to me than when the users leave the DB up and go home for the night.
