Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Is there a way to tell a doc libary in Sharepoint 2003 to show file extensions? So when a user looks at the library they would see "company.doc" instead of just "company".

Thanks again!

Hello,

As far as I know there is not a way to do this without modifying xml "configuration" files. You can do it via Frontpage but that will only allow you to change the extension to show up in one view and you will have to convert the webpart to an XSLT data view. If you want it to show up on all views you will have to modify the xml files manually.

I would not recommend doing this if you are not familiar with customization of SharePoint, it is very easy to break a site...been there..done that! :)

Is there a specific reason why you want to display the file extensions?

Regards,
Thomas

Thanks for the input Thomas. I honestly don't really see a reason for showing the extensions either. It was an idea from management. :) You know how that goes.

I'll let them know what a pain this will be.

Thanks again!
