I would like to know if anyone knows how I can import text file contents to a designated area in a specified font in a flash movie platform?

I am trying to set it up so that I don't have to be the guy to change the text in the body of the flash site every time a new News gets posted (like 2 or 3 new News listings a week).

Basically - I think it might be similar to the ASP method, but I really don't have a clue to go about this in flash.

Anybody have any clues? Consider me a newbie when it comes to this type of thing in flash - thanks :)

just load the text in a dynamic text box..you could then update the actual text and replace it on the server rather then replacing anything in flash..

a simple .txt file

Ok.... I just tried to figure it out myself, and then looked up keywords in the search feature, but no luck.

Could you help me a little and get me started? I am clueless - although I like the sounds of the dynamic text box, it sounds exactly like what I am looking for.

thanks!

wait I got it! Sorry, Thanks again!

OK I'm a moron - I still can't get it to work.

I have the text box set up I *think*. I just don't think it's loading the text file.

When it gets to the "stop" command on the frame where the text box comes up - what exactly should I put in the action script. I found your loadvariable and the information you put into it - but I am not sure what do to...
I don't really know what to give you for examples either, but maybe this helps? I think I just need some major rest!

did you name your instance of the mc in the main time line?
you should set it up just like i have it in the fla..i'm off to bed now but if ya wana e-mail it i'll look at it tomorrow night when i get in..maybe you'll have it figured out by then..

if oldnewbie or someone else is around they will give you a hand..just follow the fla..make sure you named your txt file according to what you are calling and make sure you named your instance of the mc on the main timeline..

Don't forget to create (and upload it if you're testing this on-line) the story1.txt or your own text file and replace in the loadVariables command!
