Show or hide components on a layer 1

Hi I'm creating a menu screen using a flash projector. I would like the user to click on a certain button and I would like a text box with instructions to become visible on the screen. I would like to get an idea as to the actionscript code that I can use to show or hide components on a layer, so that I can produce this effect.

Why components?

You can use movie clips, and play with their visibility with...

my_mc1._visible = false; // Or true...

my_mc2._alpha = 0; // Or 100%...
