Hi all,

Am running Cr v9 (as of today) and SQL 2000. I would like to be able to show (on screen) all main rpts/ and associated subs where an estimated project value (formula)is not Null (in the sub).
The end result is that the output 'should' only print the main and subs that meet this criteria. Have tried a formula within the sub and a formula on the main to try to see if the subreport will be shown or not. Upshot have now got totally confused somewhere in the middle of this. A feasible plan or a 'nice to have' idea. Always app. the help. Cheers

Is it possible to base your report off of a stored procedure? My initial thought is that you really need that criteria in the main report and a stored should be able to incorporate that criteria pretty easily.

Becuase of the order in which Crystal processes info in the report, by the time you know if the subreport value is NULL, I believe it's too late to do anything about it in terms of suppressing the display of the subreport (Well, I can think of a way to do it that might work, but, believe me, it's a pain; if someone else can think of a simple way to do it...) However, if you had the sum of the estimated project value in the main report (i.e., as a part of the recordset that makes up the main report), you'd be able to do it.

So, if you can write the report using a stored procedure as the datasource, you should be able to address your problem (if not, using a command object in CR 9 is also a possibility, but depending on the complexity your report performance may suffer).
