I know I should know this but I keep ignoring this...

When I do a router#show ip route

I get this...

D 192.168.2.2/32 [90/2172416] via 192.168.1.2, 00:28:58

My question is what is the 2172416 part??

I remember all the other info but keep ignoring the number in question. I thought it was HOP count but maybe that is for RIP. I do know that the 'D' part means EIGRP. Perhaps the number has a different meaning for each protocol.

90 is the administrative distance (AD) and gives the router the ability to differentiate between protocols that use different metric. EIGRP is 90, IGRP is 100, OSPF is 110, etc...

The second number is the protocol metric. In the case of an EIGRP route the number represents the feasible distance (FD) to the destination network through the best successor.

The calculation is 256 * ((10^7/b) - (d/10))
Where b is the minimum bandwidth in kb/s and d is the sum of the delay metric on all interfaces the packet will traverse.

Thanks for the reply. I always overlook that number. I appreciate the explination.
