Hi Experts,
I need some help with suppressing duplicate fields except when the it's the first record. example of my data is:

(1st record) Details Dr. A (Not Suppressed)
Details Dr. A (suppressed)
Details Dr. A (suppressed)

(Next record)details Dr A (suppressed) New record (this is the beginning of a new record and I would like for the dr's name to display)
Details Dr. A. (suppressed)
Details Dr. A (suppressed)
I have been able to suppressed the field, I just want it to show when it's a new record by using the suppress field function, and I've been looking at previous threads and tried using "not onfirstrecord" but that is not working. What am I missing.

Thanks

I'm not sure if this is all you're asking for, but right click --> Format Field --> Common and check Suppress if Duplicated.

Ultimately it might be better to group by doctor name, and remove the doctor name field from the details section.

Actually, based on your description you would group on whatever field makes the record unique, since it appears that is not the doctor name.

why not try grouping by Dr and putting the fields you need in the group footer and hiding details section. Doing that will give you the ability to do summaries from other info that may be in the other records ie number of patients. (that was just a guess as I dont know what other fields your records contain)

I don't think I did a good job explaining what my report looks like. I would like for the Procedurea to only show when there's a new patient. I still need the implant information to show, but I was hoping to suppress the duplicate procedures
GH1 (Dr.Name)
(Details)Patient's name Procedurea
(details)Implant infoa Procedurea
details Implant infob Procedurea
details Implant infoc Procedurea

(details)New Patient Procedurea
details)Implant infoa Procedurea
details Implant infob Procedurea
details Implant infoc Procedurea

Would like for it to look like this:

(GH1) Dr. Name

Patient Name Procedurea
Implant infoa
Implant infob
Implant infoc

Patient Name Procedurea
Implant Infoa
Implant Infob
Implant Infoc

Then I would think you'd need additional groups:

GH1 Dr. Name
G2 Patient Name (or more likely Patient ID, but display the name)
G3 Procedure
Details Implant Info

See if this produces the data in the basic structure you want - after that you can work on the appearance.
