Should Win2k3 be slower that a win2k box

Backup Exec 11d to tape

Hi, I recently replaced 2 PC class 2000 Domain controllers (IDE drives and software Raid) and 100MB Nics with 2 new 2003R2 Proliants, Raid 1+0, 15k SAS drives heaps of RAM and 1Gb Nics.

The problem is that one of the DCs takes an hour and a half and the other one is done in 25 - 20 mins.

The old servers used to take 30 to 40 mins.

The backup server has 2, 1GB Nics teamed all the other 2003 servers are fine. Backing up to an LTO3 Library.

DCs are just DCs + DNS

Both servers are configured exactly the same except the slow one has DHCP, WINS and the FSMO roles.

You state that you have the NICs teamed... what are the team settings?
What switch make/model do you have these servers plugged into?
Do you have the latest firmware for system, NIC, etc...?
Do you have the same/latest support sofware from HP?
Since both are DNS/AD servers, are they pointing to themselves for DNS?
Was the DHCP migrated from 2000 or brand new database?
Same question for WINS?
