Most (all?) of the posts in here are to do with VB.

I would like to suggest that we ask for all the posts here to be moved to the VB forum and that this forum be closed.

Comments?

Mike
michael.j.lacey@ntlworld.com
<a href= Cargill's Corporate Web Site
Please -- Don't send me email questions without posting them in Tek-Tips as well. Better yet -- Post the question in Tek-Tips and send me a note saying "Have a look at so-and-so in the thingy forum would you?"

Hmmm...if you've got a VB question: post it in the VB forums...if you see a VB question in here: tell the poster of the question to try in the VB forum, then Red Flag the post.
Other than that, if anyone has any questions arise that concern MS BASIC in a more general sense, then let's keep this forum open for them.
-Robherc
robherc@netzero.net
SearchMaster Interface...11-in-1
Wanting to learn Assembler; please e-mail me any tutorials or links for it that are useful to you :)

I know Rob - but there is only one post that falls into that category so far.

Mike
michael.j.lacey@ntlworld.com
<a href= Cargill's Corporate Web Site
Please -- Don't send me email questions without posting them in Tek-Tips as well. This is the classical problem of mis-direction. (VB questions should go in the VB forum, QB questions should go in the QB forum.)

Personally, I think this forum should remain open as a cross-over for the users who try to reconcile DOS's Interrupt 13, function 3 with VB's FileSystem object. I am using both in my current project and I am probably not alone.

Other users should post in the "other" forum. No offense, Mike. No offense, Rob. No offense, Alt255. Let's take the question to the "other" forum.

<a href= plain black box
Yes, lets go to the "other" forum.....um....which one was that???

You know what?

You go on ahead without me and I'll keep a lookout here, OK? If I see any general Microsoft questions laying around I'll let you know.

In all seriousness, Mike, this one should stay open and the dBASE forum should be closed off.

Although, I still use dBase at work and constantly modify the .prg files so that I get the desired output, it is all but a snubbed out language that was popular in the days of old. Have you seen how many postings are currently in that forum? An unbelieveable unimaginable eight that span an emense one page. And, if you do go there, check out the dates.

Lets leave this one up and running, at least it is somewhat a progressive site. If you want, think of it this way, if a question is posted here instead of the correct forum then the person is not in the know and probably not as apt as some of us. And, you could consider those who do post in the appropriate spots as kindred of the that particular forum.

In other words, Mike, you've got a niche here on the web. A little groupie type thing going on. So, please don't blow it. Now that I have confused myself...let me go back to finding a general microsoft question....I think..um..I saw one...no, no that's not it...maybe over there.......

You Show me your code, I'll show you mine.

Ok -- fair points there Miggy, fair points from everyone bar me to be honest <smle>

My concern was that people might post in here thinking it was the VB forum - and it may get missed... But, in general, that doesn't tend to happen.

dBASE? <smile> I don't care about dBASE - gave it up years ago....
Mike
michael.j.lacey@ntlworld.com
<a href= Cargill's Corporate Web Site
Please -- Don't send me email questions without posting them in Tek-Tips as well. Hi guys (and gals) I’m back from my wondering through Tek-Tips. Lots of stuff out there. Alas, I could not find any General Microsoft inquiries that HAVE NOT BEEN ANSWERED.

Hey Mike, I read your recent posting, and I’m glad that you had at least attempted to understand where the rest of us “groupies” are coming from.

I give you two thumbs up for being honest in your opinion...after all “opinions are like a$$-whole$, everybody’s got one”—-got this from my uncle on WebTV. Isn’t he a dirty old man?

And, in all fairness, I re-read your original posting and subsequent ones as well. I concluded that what you had probably intended to say...maybe I’m wrong, if so please be honest...was that the forum should be renamed. Uh? Uh? Am I right? Uh? If that’s the case, I’ll agree that it should be renamed.

But then we may still have a problem. I do not think too many people would want to sign-on here to a forum entitle “MiggyD’s Fragmented Look-see Into The Internal Workings Of Microsoft Products In General”. Maybe, we can cut it down to “MiggyD’s Stuff”. I think that a better title. How’s that? Won’t fly!? Well, you try to come up with a better name. In the meantime I’ll be around.

Good Luck, Mike, see ya in the "other" forum.

You Show me your code, I'll show you mine.

Perhaps I am confused here. I assumed that BASIC: Microsoft refered to "Beginner's All-Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code: Microsoft".

So I posted a FAQ. It isn't an answer to a Frequently Asked Question in this forum but it's an answer to a question I've seen in several of the Microsoft Programming forums. It seemed logical to post it here.

It's a work in progress, so don't criticize me too harshly.

<a href= plain black box
Tuche' mon ami. ("well put my friend" -- French for those of us who may not know it).

That's the exact reason I had originally placed this forum in my "Threadminder". And then, I started reading and found out that this forum is for the general questions on Microsoft stuff.

You Show me your code, I'll show you mine.
