I need to do the following every day
1) FTP about 100-1000 text files from remote server
2) Parse and rebuild the file properly & compose SQL Loader control files
3) load the output from above into ORacle db.
The above is to be kicked off using Korn scripts.

I am pretty certain I would like to do 2) using Perl, but I just wonder whether the FTPing could be done any Quicker/in a more maintanble manner should I choose to use Korn or Perl to do the FTPing? Basically, what I need to do is to MGET *.knownExtension from remote server on to local machine.

NET:Ftp is the way to go, much easier to control what happens using a Perl module rather than sh scripting. Mike
