Should I switch from ODBC to DAO?

I have been using ODBC for Excel 2000 and 2002 in Windows XP. I have been told that DAO could be quite a bit faster.

I am currently connecting to an Access database, a SQL Server database and an AS400.
Would DAO be faster and, if so, where could I find more info on it? I have reviewed the VBA help and am a little confused.

Thanks,

Sorry,

I believe I should have said ADO, not DAO.
By the way, I am not yet ready for .net.

Thanks

It really depends how you are using ODBC and what kinda queries you are running. I gotta say that I've used both and there ain't much difference (with what I'm doing anyway)

Geoff,

Thanks, I may not concern myself with ADO just yet if there
is no great advantage.

I appreciate your response.

ADO will allow you to do more things (like updates / appends etc - generally ODBC is set as read only) but you can record yourself creating a query via ODBC and then mess around with the code / SQL to make it do pretty much what you want....As I say, I use ODBC a lot and it works pretty well for me
