I have been in it for almost 6 years. I have a+ and net+ certs. I want to get some more certs under my belt and was wonder if mcsa or mcse cert are worth starting or start with the new certs from microsoft to make myself more knowledgeable and marketable. Any help would be appreciated

If you work primarily with Windows 2003 then MCSA or MCSE will be better. If you plan on deploying Windows 2008 shortly then the newer certs may be more useful.

MCSA (2003) / MCDBA (SQL 2000)
MCTS (SQL 2005 / Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0: Configuration / Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007: Configuration)
MCITP Database Administrator (SQL 2005) / Database Developer (SQL 2005)

I would go with the MCSA and then the MCSE, the last thing you want to do is look like you have jumped on the bandwagon and gotten yourself certified with the latest cert but nothing thats related to it prior.

It would also give you a better understanding of the technology.

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.

I say get both. Go for the MCSE then the MCITP. They both will be useful, but I believe that the MCSE will be more useful for the next couple of years. People were deploying Windows 2003 server up until February of this year, so you've still got a good 3-5 years where Windows 2003 will be the most common Windows flavor in server datacenters.
