I have just updated my machine with a new C drive and new OS of WinXP.
My old C Drive is now my D Drive.
However when I ran my D drive as a C Drve it was 80GB total size it now says it is 4GB total size with 1.1GB spare
It still has an OS of Win98 and all program files on it.
Would this cause the dramatic drop of size (not just free but total)?
Should I reformat it?
If I reformat it will it still run as D drive (slaved to my C)

Regards, Phil.

suspicion that you had a drive overlay on it to get access to the full amount and moving it from the boot drive has caused the system to drop the overlay.
Is it possible that the drive was split into C & D? If so, you would now be D & E if the C is a single partition.

Give the wrong symptoms, get the wrong solutions.

The chap who installed the original drive said that but I cannot see the partition anywhere i.e. only see C and D and no other drive.
if this is the case how do I get to the are I can't see?
Or is a reformat the way to go?

Regards, Phil.

Use FDISK to see what the full size is, and the size of any partitions.
