should I mirror page space?

Hi all. Discovered recently that our bonehead previous admin turned off mirroring for a bunch of LVs (all software mirrored...dont ask) and in the process of remirroring many important things, I got to wondering if I should mirror page space? Downsides, upsides, etc...?

A short answer is for rootvg (hd6) yes. If your other paging space’s reside on external disk (EMC, Shark) then no.

Paging space should always be mirrored. If not, a disk crash can take down the server because it can no longer access it's virtual memory.

i absolutly agree with unixfreak. i mirrored my rootvg including mirrored the hd6(default paging space) and primary dump device.
