In the past we have had issues where mmdf will from time to time use 80-90+ percent of the CPU on our Openserver 5.0.4 machines. We never have really used mail on our SCO machines, so the question was posed "Why don't we turn off mmdf?". In looking at the root mailbox, I can see some system related messages but nothing overly important. Will it hurt anything if I disable mmdf on our machines?

No problem. Just type:
# usr/mmdf/bin/daemon stop

To prevent MMDF from starting on bootup, rename:
/etc/rc2.d/P86mmdf
to
/etc/rc2.d/oP86mmdf

You can fix the MMDF problems, but if you don't care, why bother?
