Hi,

I am using Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 (SP3), Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition 7.61.0.950 and Symantec AntiVirus/Filtering for Microsoft Exchange 2000 v3.0.10.89.

I have made the reccomended exclusions in Norton Antivirus to prevent database corruption but I have a question about the 'badmail' directory:

Should I scan this directory with Norton Antivirus. I keep getting virus notifications on files in the badmail directory. Since all my mail is scanned by SAVFMSE I am wondering if I should still scan the badmail directory...

regards,

Jeffrey

It's not hurting to scan the \badmail directory in any way. What you may want to consider is just emptying your badmail folder on a daily basis, this will get rid of thees files that are triggering the alerts.

I know it won't damage anything if I scan the badmail directory but I was getting a little tired of getting about 200+ e-mail notifications per day that Novarg was detected in v:\badmail\....

Anyway, I created a scheduled task which clears the badmail directory on a regular basis.

thanks for the input...

Jeffrey
