We have a client who receives tec messages via SMS. The problems is he recives a minimum of 4 sms messages per event. He wants to shorten the messages sent by tec so that he would only recieve one sms message per event. Is there a way to reformat the messages of TEC to shorten it

What source are the messages coming from?

If it is a TEC adapter, then you can modify the PRINTF statement in the message slot in the appropriate format file.

Hi rblue, the messages are coming from netview. It automatically sends message to TEC once it is installed. Will it still be the same process?

It depends on how netview is sending the data. I'm not all that familiar with how Tivoli interfaces with SMS. I work primarily on UNIX.

If the messages are being received via the SNMP adapter, then yes, it will be the same. You will need to modify the PRINTF statement in the Class Definition Statement (CDS) file. (tecad_snmp.cds)
